Serbian Refugee Council is an alliance of six local NGOs actively dealing with issues of refugees and internally displaced people, established with the view of enhancing their role and influence in finding sustainable long-term solutions for refugees and the displaced in Serbia and the western Balkans region, through joint advocacy and public policy development. SRC is a non-governmental, non-profit umbrella organization with a vision to create a fairer world for refugees, IDPs and other people affected by forced migrations, to improve the overall tolerance in society, making it more equitable and prosperous.

"Vagina's Monologues", a well known text based on testimonies collected and written by Eve Ensler, will be performed on 29th of March in Belgrade at the Atelje 212 theatre. The performance is part of the on going campaign "Until Violence Stops" of the Antitraficking Centre from Belgrade. Famous Serbian and Croatian actresses, pop singers and journalists will take part in the performance.

"Solving the
problems of displaced people is key for progress in Kosovo and the Western
Balkans" says the European Council on
Refugees and Exiles (ECRE) today at the launch of the report Current
challenges for returns in the Western Balkans in Dubrovnik, where a two-day
conference takes place on durable solutions for refugees, internally displaced
persons (IDPs) and returnees in the region. ECRE and local NGOs believe that an
urgent resolution of the key concerns identified in this report is crucial for
political, economic and social progress in the Western Balkans.

On the 9th and 10th December (Human Rights Day) Serbian Refugee Council together with Antitrafficking center and TkH-Center for Performing
Arts Theory and Practice will organize film screenings on (forced)
migrations, trafficking and smuggling in human beings. The title of the project
is: "DANGEROUS LIAISONS: Migrations, trafficking, lies and video
tapes". The screenings will be followed by panel discussions.

On November 22nd and 23rd Serbian Refugee Council had the pleasure to organize a round table on within the SRC's project "Conflict transformation in the context
of re/integration of displaced people-comparative experiences of the Balkans and
the Caucasus". The project was financially
supported by the Fund for an Open Society in
Belgrade.
The
round table focused on comparison between Georgia and Serbia regarding the situation of displaced
persons (from Abkhazia, Ossetia and Kosovo
respectively) residing in these two countries as well as on peace initiatives
that would help bringing divided communities together. Participants in the round
table discussions were selected from a vast range of experts, practitioners
and direct interest groups from Serbia, Georgia with special interest in forced
migrations and conflict transformation.
